A Prayer for Andrea

A Prayer for Andrea - Claude Hamilton

A Prayer for Andrea – Fighting Fiercely

Although this video may trigger some sadness, I believe that it will inspire you.

When Scott and Andrea got involved in business with my good friend Joce Dionne and I, not only did they quickly become great friends of ours, they also became an important part of the leadership team in Atlantic Canada.  We started working closely together and spending a lot of time together and because of this, we have got to know Scott and Andrea very well.

From stopping to visit them each time I drove through their hometown, to 4-wheeling adventures through the woods, to travelling to functions and promotions together, it has been fun spending such quality time getting to know this family. I can remember quite clearly Scott and Andrea’s daughter Kaylee singing at Joce’s retirement party, a performance that brought people to tears!

One day last year, a group of us went 4-wheeling in the woods. We were all laughing because Andrea was so aggressive on her quad, driving through every mud puddle that she could and speeding past all the guys! She was having so much fun – it’s one of my defining memories of her. The very next day we received the message.  Andrea had a seizure and that started the journey of her bout with cancer. She was diagnosed with a stage 3 in-operable brain tumor. The news was stunning.  How could this happen to them? They are such an amazing couple, great parents and such caring friends.

Andrea and Scott were recently in Florida with us and Orrin Woodward, she was looking great and had a great attitude. I admire this couple so much because they are warriors and they never quit! When Andrea is down, Scott is there for her and when Scott falters, believe it or not, Andrea is there to see the bright side of things.  Scott and Andrea are going through a life-changing ordeal but they are handling it like the winners they are.  They are such an inspiration and a great example for everyone on how to deal with a challenge.  I know that God has a plan for all of us and that his hand is on Andrea and her family as she battles this cancer.

I watched this video a few times and have commented on the website that wrote the article and created this video. I ask for everyone to please keep Andrea, her husband Scott and their daughters Kyra and Kaylee in your prayers. Pray for Andrea to survive and recover from her cancer and pray for her family to be strong and supportive to help Andrea in her battle. Fight fiercely.

Yours in Victory,

Claude

    thanks

  2. Scott, I was sitting beside you at Orrin’s when you told your story. I cant tell you how much I admire your courage and love for Andrea. I know that words can’t take away the pain. You and your family however have many many friends and prayers. We are honored to be in the same organization with such wonderful people like you and your wife.

  3. Claude this is very touching- to Scott & Andrea
A book mentor of mine in prayer O. Hallesby ph.D 1931 has shared some thoughts that have given me encouragement in times of need and comfort like this.
Their are two most important parts to prayer and they are 1) helplessness & 2) faith
Do not be anxious because of your helplessness and make sure it does not prevent you from praying. Always remember the power and secret to prayer, helplessness. In thanking God for the feeling of helplessness and opening our hearts to Jesus lets Him take our distress and work it according to His grace and mercy.
Faith is number two and without faith there can be no prayer.
” And without faith it is impossible to please God………….”
Father I ask that you would comfort Scott and Andrea as you say in your word “as a mother comforts her child so will I comfort you……” Isaiah 66:13. I ask that you would warm them with your presence and hold them in your hand giving them strength and courage.I do not know them, but you do and understand what they need at this time in their lives
    Father thank you for caring!
In Jesus name I pray this in thanksgiving.
    thanks

  4. Hi Claude, thanks for posting that video of Scott and Andrea. Hearing Scott speak in Florida about how he just decided to step up and be the rock for his family during this challenge was truly one of the most inspiring talks I have ever heard. Nicole and I knew they were a very special couple but to see how they are during these times makes us want to be better in all we do. Scott and Andrea are true towers of strength. We love you guys. You’re always in our prayers.

  6. Thank you so much for sharing this touching story with us Claude.
I admire this family for going through everything they do and yet still having a smiling face every time I see them. It is a reminder to us all to never give up on our dreams and to not let little things get in the way. Personally, whenever I feel like having a pitty party, I think of the leadership and determination of the Seeley family and it keeps me going.
Andrea, you and your family are in my prayers.
Much love and light, God Bless.

  7. Andrea,

  8. Claude,

We have a member on our team that was a 35 yr old engineer, and sky diving instructor with several records. A few years back
he was leading a normal life and the week before Christmas
just weeks after having his second child, he was having bad headaches.

After visiting the doctors and numerous tests later they admitted him to have immediate surgery. He was not allowed to go home and pack his suit case, kiss his boys, or put anything in order.

After surgery the doctors told us he would be a vegetable the rest of his life.

After being in hospital for 6 months he had to learn how to talk again, and walk again. His life was turned upside down.

Because of his courage, will to live, and support of people on the team along with the wisdom gained from the team and his belief in a loving and merciful God, he overcame all the odds.

Today he is living a normal life and is an inspiration to everybody
    who knows him.

Without a test there can be no testimony….

Andrea and her family are in our prayers.

  9. Claude,

It is amazing how as we pour into relationships, building LIFE, so many people become so indispensable in our lives. Our prayers are with the Seeley’s. My prayer for Andrea is out of Hebrews 4:16 “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

    –thank you

  10. I remember meeting this couple when they came to Halifax to speak and I had the pleasure of backstage hosting them! They were so gracious and loving towards one another and it came through loud and clear! True servant leaders!
I also had the pleasure of being around them at Orrin’s last weekend. What impressed me the most was how positive Andrea was and continues to be! She didn’t once have a negative word nor a pity party of any sort! She talked about running for their goal and the future of their business! She really impacted me that day! Thank you Andrea for giving others strength during your battle!

  11. Hi Claude!

Your blog is very moving. One thing I love about L.I.F.E. is all the amazing fighters we have perusing greatness. I sure you guys know more people than I could fathom but I wanted to share with you a Natural Healer who has helped “MANY”! One of the stories that sticks in my mind was a 33 year old Cleveland policeman who was told by the Cleveland Clinic to make out his will cause he wasn’t going to survive the 2 brain tumor’s he had….yes 2! I know that was over 10 years ago and he is still to my knowledge healthy and tumor free. I dont mean to bud in I’m sure you guys have similar people around you. The gentleman I’m speaking of is here in Ohio about 35 minutes from Cleveland. Feel free to email me if they would like this man’s information. Thanks for all you do Claude!! You and Lana are amazing people and congratulations on Wyatt!! Your blogs are great by the way!!

  12. Claude,
Me and you have been through a lot together over the years. However, I can’t even imagine how Scott & Andrea’s lives have changed drastically because of this. Everytime I am around the Seeleys I am reminded of how much attitude matters in life. It’s inspiring to watch them step into the ring with this cancer battle and fight it so well. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer, and know that God has a plan for Scott & Andrea. Thank you Claude for sharing this with the Team.

    Love ya,
    Joce

  14. I met Andrea when I was in grade 11 and she was teaching at Hartland High School. I didn’t get to meet Scott till I was in line up with him in Springfield last year . What a small world. They are battling something so strong. LIFE for sure is helping them battle this each day with giving them hope to go on. My prayers and thoughts go out to Andrea, Scott and their girls. Will say a prayer for you each day.
